Title: draining diff
Post by: zywiec on 18 August 2007, 16:29:20
hi all

got a little wobble when i drive, i've read on here that it can be the diff oil that is old so i tried to change it today and found the filler bung no problem but could find no where to drain it.

Am i blind or do i need to pump it out??

What kind of wobble, never heard of the diff causing that.

similar to wheel balancing as it gets better when over 80-90mph but had the wheels checked and there fine. The wobble isnt very bad so not really that bothered but if the oil change can sort it then great if not ill live with it.

Have you tried swapping the back wheels over to see if the wobble moves to the other side of the car, daft suggestion but worth a look. :y

I would swap the wheels front to back, then you should feel through the steering.

Have to say my confidence in wheel balancing ability is rather low, I gave up after the fourth attempt after the last tyre change. Fortunately?? it needs tyres again so here goes.

...you have a wobble at the rear wheels? how very odd...

But if the wobble is on the front wheels then whoever told you about the diff must have been thinking FWD...
