Anyone had any joy using ProScan software with ELM327 interface?, I can't get it to talk to the Ecu at all with mine.
Cheers Pete

What about getting a program called "portmon" think its free from microsoft might be able to see what happening on the serial port?
Hav'nt tried that software.
Does your year have the canbus?
-
Cheers Mate, I'll have a look at that; not sure if mine is Can-bus or not.
Cheers Pete

Yours is not CAN.
scantool (scantool.net) is free and works with elm chips.
-
The boy, I've got the scantool software and works a treat , but looking around for something a little more comprehnsive.

You're knackered if you want to read much more than engine for a variety of reasons - OBDII generic readers will usually only cover engines, and Omega's diagnostics port uses 4 diag lines, rather than the usual one.
Cheapo Tech2 (buggy, and often Hungarian) or real Tech2 (expensive) are your best bets...

Thanks for that info .. still learning lots !!
(bit off topic now .. apologies !! ) :-/
So, picking your brain further ... which part of the VIN is the "year" bit ?? My "first registered Dec99 V Plate" has both a W (first digit), V (5th digit) and an X (10th digit) in the VIN - be interested to know when it was "made" rather than "registered"
