Does anyone know which vehicle protocol the 2.2 Omega uses for diagnostics etc,

i believe what you need is an OBDII system in order to read the codes on a 2.2

Yes, have all that mate, but just need to know what OBDII protocol the car uses I think it's ISO... but not sure.

Its ISO8.... something (cant remember the other digits!)......i.e. the eurpeon version not the wierd PWM or Ford setup and its to KWP2000 for most system with some of the older stuff being KWP82
