Having trouble removing a T50 torx bolt on the rear diff as has been rounded previously and the T50 bit is slipping any thoughts about how to remove??
-
is it torx bit fit or e fit
-
bit fit
-
Hammer and chisel then replace with a new Torx bolt.

if you can tap in a slightly bigger torx bit & grip the bolt head with mole grips as tight as poss & turn the two together but you would need to get a good seat in the bolt i.e. clean the head out & get the bit into the head as far as poss, if you get no joy use a quality blade screwdriver or cold chisel on the edge of the bolt & tap it round with a hammer good luck

If the bit head of the bolt is rounded off then you won't be able to get anything else in there as it will just spin. Works on the same princable as a rounded off nut or standard bolt, thats why its easier to just use a chisel and hammer at least that way there is some way of getting the bolt undone. Once that's done then just replace the bolt but don't overtighten like some people tend to do. These type of bolts (torx) don't need to be to tight otherwise they end up being rounded off.

T50 torx is female isn't it? I have never tried these but others have, look here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IRWIN-BOLT-GRIP-FOR-THE-REMOVAL-OF-DAMAGED-NUTS-BOLT_W0QQitemZ260154444951QQihZ016QQcategoryZ30917QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem).
Perhaps someone else could confirm that they would work with round fastener?
