I've recently aquired a 3.0 v6 elite, which I'm glad to say I cannot fault !! 8-)
I've just got a little concern over the fact that even after a short 20 minute trip there seems to be a lot of heat coming from the under-side of the car. :-?
Is this normal or is there something more sinister going on here?? :-/
thanks in advance.

Sure there'll be an expert along soon, congrats on the purchase :y
There's no fluids dripping on the exhaust? It is accepted though that the average running temperature for the V6 is approx 92 - 95 degrees. Quite high, but common.

Difficult to tell from here !
But the exhaust downpipes do get very hot very quickly. The secondary air injection causes unburnt fuel to burn in them until the system is hot enough for the cats to work properly. In a couple of mins they'll be toasting. There are heat shields on the downpipes but they tend to corrode and fall off.

Blocked cat(s)?

thanks for your replies. :)
Blocked cat(s)?
Well the car had a full twelve month MOT issued just the previous day to me buying it. Wouldn't it have failed on emissions etc. with a blocked cat :question
I guess I'll see how things go.
thanks again

I think you will find its not a problem mine does this when I park up the cooling fan on mine runs on for a short time after the engine stops and this is blown out under the car more noticable on passenger side I noticed

Thats reassuring. :) I guess the same is happening with mine then...I have noticed the cooling fan running on a little while.

I do`nt think there´s a need to worry ;)
I have noticed that the engines get hot very quickly and the fan always comes on to cool it down,
thus blowing the heat under the car :y
EDIT: oopps someones beat me to it should read till the end before Posting ;D ;D

Thinking about it my manual before this one did not do this so it may be something to do with the autos only :y

Mines a manuel does it all the time

Quite normal as said fans run on for a while after the ignition has been turned off, blowing hot air from the engine under the car.
-
Seems quite normal to me too...when i get out of mine after a run with air con on the heat from exhaust makes you want to shut doors and carry on driving...both megas i have had always seem to be really hot underneath..almost excessive but this does seem the norm..dont work and enjoy your new car
-
Mine also do the same ...Not sure though but think this is from cats blocked or unblocked.
Anyway I dont see any measure or tool around about cat blockage..
-
yup mine and 2 pals with omegas all do it

You can see heat shimmering up from the sides of the bonnet from mine at traffic lights, and it's very warm at the sides when you get out. I think it's normal as these engines tend to run a little warm....It doesn't go above 95c.
