Anyone changed one of these?
Mine appears to have broken/disconnected at the pivot - still attached to the release.
I pulled a bit harder as the bonnet wasn't opening, and hey, no hinging, just dangling. Visibility is lousy, so am not sure whats going on under the coin drawer.
meanwhile have to get bonnet open.
My new car is rapidly heading into lemon territory. "£$%^& >:(

Not done one but can you still see the cable end????? If so use a pair of molegrips on the cable and pull.....

Yep, pull on the cable but while you do so get someone to press down on the front of the bonnet to release the pressure on it, which makes it easier to pop the mechanism.

Yup, had ours fall off a few times. G/f kicking it on the way in/out of the car I think (long legs, but clumsy...). The access isn't lovely, but I reckon you'll find it'll 'click' back in. Not an over-engineered set-up...

Never occurred that it would just be a push fit, presuming I'd sheared something.

Nah, give over! That car looks the business! You'd only get the same stupid (but expensive!) problems on a car you had spent 8/9/10X as much money on! I was even talking to a friend at his local body shop the other day who is most annoyed that his 5 year old 25 grand Mercedes is going rusty under the arches. It's a common thing apparently :o Do merc want to know? What do you think ::)
Just be thankful most of your problems are a known issue and with an army of experts like these guys ;) it will slowly get better :y Just don't get too down hearted along the way :)

So very true. SWMBO still happily drives our 14 yr old, 150,000 mile Merc auto diesel to work
every day. It is only now just starting to get a couple of small blisters on the front
wheel arches. The car has never failed and the only part I've had to replace apart
from standard service items, 1 exhaust system and 1 battery, is a set of Glow Plugs.
In contrast, her boss, who owns a 2 yr old Merc, can't believe the condition of hers compared
to his. His rusts at the slightest stone chip. The car is never out of the dealers for one
problem or another. He has to get it serviced to keep up the warranty and the prices they
charge are eye watering. He wishes he'd kept his old Merc like us.
I don't know why folk so little of the Omega. It gets no problems any worse than most
modern cars, and due to the rear wheel drive layout they're easier to work on than
the standard 'de rigeur' of modern front wheel drive offerings.
Why do folk think that because they get sucked in by 'Brand Marketing', that the car
with a 'flavour of the month' badge on the bonnet is going to be a better buy at 10
times the price they'll pay for a mini limo like an Omega?
Can't fathom it myself, bit long may it continue if I can buy cars like this at this kind
of price. :)
