Whats the best way to remove the door bump strip without damaging the trim or the door??? TIA.
-
if they clip in then the best way would be to unclip them from inside the door panel, however it might not be the easiest way
not sure whether they clip or bond
-
If it's like the Vectra it's clips and glue :(
-
Again, not sure. I know the cavalier is bonded and they tend to bend very easily when removing so no good for refitting.
-
Haynes reckons that they're bonded into place with a special adhesive.
To remove you have to heat them up to soften the adhesive and then
cut them off.
Don't know if this true from experience, just reading what it says.

Sorry dazzler but the door strips are clipped and held on by trim tape very strong but not that strong. Might be worth heating them up and using a small scraper to losen the tape.

Clips attached to strip & double sided tape was a fave of GM. Clips are freed from inside door panel, but to minimise damage a case f trying to soften gum on tape. A plastic scraper should help reduce risk of scratching painwork, don't rush job either.Very hot water has worked for me in the past. Care still to be taken not to bend strips as metalic strip they are on may bend & leave a kink. Once removed clean & replace double sided tape.
