Title: coolant question
Post by: paul.c on 12 September 2007, 19:31:44
flushed out the cooling system today everything went well. but when i read the haynes w/shop manual it said the system holds 9.5 litres and suggested a 50 50 mix. so i went to vauxhall and asked the guy for enough antifreeze to do the system. he only gave me 2 litres then argued that was more than enough. so was he right? anybody?.. :-?

No, he was wrong.

Engine needs 5.5 litres red antifreeze with the remainder being clean water.  2 litres may stop it freezing but its the corrosion inhibitor content thats really required.....
