Title: cruise control

hi all

i have just installed a cruise stalk into my omega facelift 2.6 cd manual, i took it to my friendly mechanic who enabled cruise  on tec2 the cruise does not work. i have looked at the destruction manual from vauxhall and it describes cruise with auto only, have i wasted my money as it is for auto only or have i done something wrong?

Cruise was installed and works a treat on our facelift 2.2DTI manual CD spec. I'm guessing something not quite right with the tech 2/software. The cruise stalk the correct part no?

You are using it correctly and understand the functions? To switch it on press the furthest away top switch. To cancel, the big bottom switch. And the switch nearest you to slow down.

Did it seem all seem to fit ok and the extra plug connected(the one tucked behind)?

Sorry to sound so playskool, but it's often the simple things as well!

Sure somebody else will offer suggestions  :y

Just to add 'Laz' on another thread was sent a stalk for a 2.5 Diesel. Hope this isn't becoming common!?!  ::)

Manuals require a clutch switch to work.  FYI this is the switch that disengages the cruise when clutch pedal is depressed.  My guess is that you do not have one.

First step is to drop the trim panel from just above the pedals.  Look up in the clutch pedal to see if you have a switch - they are white with a red plunger.  Fitted at abou the same place on the pedal as the brake switch.

Also while you are there, check whether you have a 2 or 4 way brake switch.  Unplug the multiplug and count the pins - that's the only way!
Typically you need a 4 pin switch for cruise to work. (some on here have got it working on 2 pin but it depends on the wiring loom)

will have a look at the pins and clutch and get back to you, must be that i  think
if i have the missing cables in my car how easy is it to get round the problem ?

Easy....fit the switches which are not to pricey (both switches are about 25 ish quid for the pair)

you will find the car is prewired, it is all plug and play......

The 2.6 is drive by wire, i have seen a couple of these done in the past, although i was under the impression that if all the switches were not active it would not enable the ECU to have cruise enabled, i could be wrong with that.

i have finaly got round to having alook under the pedals and you are right i have not got a switch on the clutch :-/
the brake pedal switch is in there. The plug i suspect is used for the cruise is a two pin job, it joins the wireing loom at the same spot as the brake switch.

Easy check here:  bridge the connections in the clutch switch (say put a paperclip in them and tape up to stop it shorting on anything).  Give it a try, if it works, get yourself a clutch switch fit it and off you go.

I think the DTI has them anyway - certainly the Astra/Zafira and Veccy-C DTIs do...
