Title: omega 2.0l autobox fault please help

hige i have a omega 2.0l automatic on a p reg it drives in all gears but has gone into limp mode with the gearbox light always on can anyone help me in telling me what may be wrong cheers

More than likly the camshaft sensor. Try doing the paper clip test on it and see what codes you get. There is a how too on the site for the paper clip test and the codes.

My Omega is a later one and if any thing is a miss then it tells me that it has a auto gearbox ptroblem on the mid.

Post up the codes or code when you have them so we can advise more directly.

so my gearbox would be ok then as it still has gears just a sensor fault then??????

The engine and gearbox speak to each other.  If the engine or gearbox detect a fault, it may ask the other (depending on fault) to go into reduced power (limp) mode.

Paperclip it, see if there is issue with engine.  If no codes, change the autobox oil and filter.  Don't drive for too long with autobox in limp - it is not kind to it...

how do i do a paper clip test then and does it have any risks i.e burning out anything cheers
