Title: rear brake change

I have only owned my omega for 2 weeks,i have discovered the rear pads,discs and calipers need replacing....doh!
Its a 98R 2.5 v6 estate
I thought i had checked the car thoroughly,but me and second hand cars dont go well,theres always something.
I attempted yesterday to change the parts,but after 3 hours of trying to get the disc off one side i gave up,it seems the handbrake pads are stopping it sliding off.
I bought a cd manual off ebay,but its still yet to arrive....typical!
Anyone with a few tips for me would be greatly appreciated,i beleive the handbrake adjuster is in the centre tunnel underneath???

thanks,i used that but the problem i got is the 2 screws to slacken the shoes off are round off,and without a manual at the mo i dont know how else to slacken the handbrake shoes from off the drum/disc.

I assume the handbrake cable is slack as per the maintenance guide........

Yes but, is the cable slack......

Its all to common for the handbrake to be adjusted using the cable and the result is the cable never goes slack (which it needs to or it will seize up)

ok,i will check that tomorrow,going for round 2!
im not sure if the cable was slack,is the adjuster in the centre tunnel?

Yes, you have to pop the heat shields off as per the maintenance guide for the rear brakes.

Could you please update the guide on this subject and make a little better explanation about where the parking brake adjuster is located. After reading this subject I now understand that it is in the driveshaft tunnel. The guide doesn't tell that.

It tells you this "Get under the car and remove the heat shields which cover the hand brake adjuster"Once the shields are removed the adjuster is exposed ???
