Is your TPS Throttle Position Sensor OK?

Thanks Dave , I'll check that out. Read up about them last night and looks like a possible source of  the  trouble, so that's today's job, plus  change fuel filter as that's recommended by lots of forum members.

Here's where we are now - after checking TPS etc still same probs so arranged for hook up and tech tests.  This proved MarksDTM original theory in my first post (see V6 Exhaust Blowing) that the  secondary air injection system pipes were melting and car lurching, because cat(s) were blocked and gasses were coming back into the injection system and bursting those two pipes - drivers side and the one front passenger side just by auxilliary drive belt. Both cats were replaced yesterday and now car is really performing well - no surprise!

Car's had the last laugh though  -got back lat night and driver's door has deadlocked itself - can't see any way of opening  that so it'll prob be  a VX job!
