Title: 2.5TD Auto Gearbox update
Post by: max_the_mole on 27 September 2007, 09:33:06
I'm about to do a oil change on the above gearbox and am thinking of getting the gearbox software updated at the same time.

Does anyone know how much Vauxhall are likley to charge for this??
Also is it worth having the main ECU updated at the same time??

Cheers  :)

Vauxhall will probably charge 1/2 hour, £50ish. The Boy offers this service ;)

What year is your car? Early ones do not have flashable gearbox ECU.

For the oil and filter change, gaskets and filters are £38 from JPAT, and Dexron III fluid is £20 for 5l from Halfords (need a little more than 5l).  Easy job, just can be messy!

The car is 1999 so hopefully the ECU is flashable.

I got the Filter and gaskets from http://www.lmfvauxhall.co.uk

Cost £18.80 for the Filter (Non Genuine)
&
£15.10 for both gaskets (Genuine VX parts)

If anyone else need them give Steve a ring and tell him I sent you :)

Hoefully I'll give it a try in the next few weeks along with a basic service.

Yes, 1999 cars have GS8.20 ECU, which is flashable...
