Title: Heated Front Seat's

Any body know why the front heated seat won't work, the lights on the switch's come on and the fuse's look ok but the seats don't get warm, HELP ANY BODY, WINTERS COMING AND I DON'T WANT A COLD BUM.

Open circuit heating element ??  ie .. knackered .. :)

The rears have relays .. the fronts don't appear to, but there IS a "Heater control module - drivers"- A98 could be that I suppose  :(

Yeah, knackered heaters.  Seems to affect leather seat more that cloth, which is a shame.

Are we then talking new seats? mine are cloth trim can they be mended? :'(

Seriously. Check that you do have 12v all the way up to the seat, you probably wil have and as Entwood says the element(s) will be open circuit. Remove the seat & have a look for scorching which will likely lead you to where the element has failed. My driver's seat was sorted by remoing an inch or 2 of the element & resoldering back to the main wiring. You can only gain by looking as the worse that can happen is that you end up with heated seats that don't work! (apart from triggering airbags! :o  :o  ;)) Disconnect your battery though & have a cig/brew before you mess with airbags in seats if applic.  :y

You can purchase a new heater mat, if you are any good with removing upholstery then have a go ;)

Assuming cloth upholtery is the same as/similar to leather, then it's not difficult to remove.

I believe that the cloth seat is easier than the leather one to change the pad on :-/

As I understand it the cloth seats use a seperate heat pad, the leather seats have the heat pad sewn in.

Facelift omega faulty heated seats, common problem i'm afraid  :( Happened to one of ours, (CD spec) replaced under warranty, otherwise pricey to put right  >:(

Start with the two screws at the base of the seat back and take it from there  :y

I've had a close look at the front seats in our 98 Elite, they are cloth but the elements appear to be part of the seat covering, not separate pads.

The heating elements are open circuit and one has arced, burning a hole in the cover.

I suppose either cover or seat change. Anyone breaking an Elite with black cloth seats?
