Hi Guys
"The Boy" and "LFF64" have very kindly agreed to help me out in the next couple of weeks to do my rocker gaskets as theres oil in where it normally happens and horrid smell when you get out the car, aswell as steam!
trouble is im pretty desperate to get it done before that, i will pay handsomely to get this done midweek somewhere
i dont have access to another car and weathers getting crappier so cant cycle anymore, found this out this morning!
so i need my car, is there anyone near me in Oxford that would be willing to sort this problem out for me as soon as?
i have driven it to work this morning but this obviously isnt recommended when its in this condition is it?
and before ANYONE says, im not gonna just "have a go" at doing it myself!
all of you are pretty competent, but no way in hell am i attempting this as i KNOW i will mess up....big time!
its gonna need to be done under cover incase it rains i reckon
can anyone help me? CASH A WAITIN !!!!

I don't think a couple of weeks are going to do any harm.
By steam - you mean smoke I assume (coming from oil dripping on hot exhaust..). If you mean steam (water), you have a different problem.
-
Sorry ians
yeah, i meant smoke...... "the boy" knows what im talking about as he witnessed it when i turnt up at his house on Saturday evening
so, my car is ok to drive in its condition ?
i do about 7 miles per day in TOTAL to get to work, and I will make sure i go no where else!
just dont want to keep driving it with that oil leaking into the rocker gaskets, spark plug wells, or whatever it is that you all know what im talking about ;D

its not going to result in a catastrophic failure (as a broken cambelt would for example), so you'll be fine. Ultimately the oil will damage HT leads but assuming its been like it for a while, 2 weeks will make no difference. and if you do it yourself with help, you'll feel a whole lot more confident afterwards to do other jobs. Change your spark plugs while you're at it as access is much easier.

so i need HT leads? my cars been steaming and burning rocker gaskets for about 6-7 months
luckily i hardly use the car so HOPEFULLY i aint messed anything up?
damm, how much do these HT Leads cost? and are there different makes in terms of quality?
-
You can get Bosch replacement leads on E-Bay for about £39 inc delivery...... I believe they are in excess of £120 from Vauxhall.
-
do you have a link mate?
cant find them anywhere

thanks matey
should i just order 1 pack at £39.99 ?
is that all i need for the whole car? are they decent ones?
i aint got a clue about makes etc etc
-
Bosch is a very good aftermarket make. They also make alot of the OE equipment ;)
Yes, 1 pack is all you need(ie-6 leads in a pack)
-
ok, thanks
i better pop down to Halfords and buy another 2 spark plugs then
i bought a pack of 4 about 2 weeks ago, not realising i need 6
so i can just give the new HT leads and sparks to the mechanic at Vauxhall and ask him fit MY parts instead of him ripping me off with his ones........sorted!
-
Just ordered them HT leads, thanks for the link mate
they were £45 all in (including delivery)
many thanks

I was close on the price.......I,m not to sure that Vauxhall will fit these for you. I thought you were going to do these :-/

As discussed, try to remove oil from drivers side plug wells (use kitchen roll, or something to suck it out), and check again in a couple of days. This will give us an idea of size of leak.
