Title: Alarming vibrations

When I first got my facelift, Steve told me it had a slight steering wheel wobble at certain speeds. I always found it very minimal - so much so, that I never did anything about it.

But I now notice it more and more, so I guess it's time to wrap it up.

When driving along with cruise on 70 on Sunday, my mate Markie said to me "there's some vibration coming from somewhere". So he can also feel it in the passenger seat. The strange thing is, it doesn't feel like a steering wobble that I'm used to. The steering wheel itself does not appear to be shaking, it is the whole car.

It feels like it's coming from the front-end, but hard to pinpoint exactly. Markie even mentioned an imbalanced prop?

It is "slightly" noticable after about 58/60mph, definately noticable at 70, and (when testing on a private road  ::) ) the vibrations are quite bad between 80 and 90 mph.

All ideas gratefully recieved.

My front tyres, while not premuims, have lots of tread left and are worn evenly, so almost new.

Forgot to add, I occasionally (but not always) get a steering wheel wobble under LIGHT braking at speed, but I guess this could not be related...

Wobble while driving - sounds same as me...  Could be wheel balancing or alignment.  You tried swapping the front wheels round with the rear??  On my old GLS, the rear diff did have some play which caused vibration at about 70 on that, but you could drive through it from 95 and it became smooth again...

Vibration under light braking, again possibly alignment if its only under light braking...  So kinda is pointing to an alignment issue...

Wobble at 50/60 will be wheel balance.  It should be negligable below this speed and above.  If still there, then would be looking to see if a wheel has a buckle on the rim.

Try swapping out the spare wheel a corner at a time to see if the vibration goes.
