How often should leather seats be treated to keep them in good condition and what product do you guys recommend please.
-
Dove soap ;)
-
Sorry, donnow, haven't done anything to mine in the past 6 years... the steering wheel does get an ocassional treatment of leather cream.
-
every 2-3 months..Dont care about the brand..Something creamy is ok for me..
-
Recommended to be done every year as the leather dries out and starts to get crack lines on it, i do mine more often in the summer in particular as this is when the inside of the car gets its hottest.... I use Autoglym Leather Cream which makes the leather look really good again.
So As you can imagine not been done much this year as we have not had any flippin sun !!!!!!!!!
-
Can't remember the make I use, but do it regular :y
-
i use the autoglym leather care on mine and do them every 6 months, although i do pretty much live in my car and the driver seat has taken on my profile ;D
-
Thank you for your replies guys....Every 6 months should do it then I guess.
-
ok guys here it is..............every week vac the seats to get the dirt out the pores, then wipe with a damp cloth which has a mild pure soap,no dtergents like washing up liquid as this destroys the sealant layer and then goes onto to destroy the pigment/paint layer.
about 2 months again give a good clean a soft nail brush is recomended this time to get ingrained dirt out.then treat with a leather cream, this is important as this will put back into the leather important moisture/oil and should leave a protective wax layer.
things you all should be aware of are the things which is gonna destroy your leather surface,
kids.......self explanatary :)
heat....drys outthe leather and it starts to crack
detergents....breaks down protective layer
sweat/hand grease........ does the same as detergents......and ten fold if u are on heart tablets
dog sweat.anoither killer.
oh pleasee do not use products meant for saddles, saw a womans leather sofa destroyed by a saddle soap product
hope this is of help :y

I use Baby Oil for all my Leather Needs :-X ;D ;D
But for the car I use Autoglynn Leather Care, try to do it once every 2-3 months :y
-
Don't like a 'shiny' leather look.
Autoglym 'leather cleaner' followed by 'leather care cream' is the product of choice. Remember to do the steering wheel and CLEAN really well and also the gear knob :y
Tried the gliptone stuff on an MR2 before but it makes it smell like an old car :-/ Anything is better than nothing though.
-
yep gliptone is good.......i used to use their pigment paints when repairing leather seats
