Title: engine immobilizier

ive an m reg 2.0 16v omega - all of a sudden today the key fob has stopped working.  its infra red.  ive changed the batteries.  i can use the key to lock my car , but i cant disengage the imobilizier.  any help would be great.

Have you resync'd it?  Can't remember exact procedure for Infrared types, likely to be key in ign and press button or something similar?

The immobiliser has nothing to do with the batteries, its a chip inside of the key itself.
