Took these pics today, and this may be the cause of my problem with the oil check light, there is obviously a leak but where do you think its coming from, possible cause?

Have you checked the Cam Covers Mike? There is the Oil Cooler Plate that could perhaps leak down the back too....
-
TBH i dont really know.....but theres oil all over the bottom of your engine......your sure its not leaking out of the sump bolt.....might just need a new washer :y Yhere copper iirc....and used too many times will leak.....ideally you should change everytime :y

Thats what I was thinking, but there is also oil on the silver pipe and above that, bearing in mind I had the seals done on the came in april, and also a new sump cover?

MICKdundee's good at catching wildlife :y.............but not technically advanced, hence the reason for the post ;D
-
Try changing the washer then :y ......might fix it :y
-
Try and give it a good clean up first and then run it, might make it a bit easier to locate the source of the leak..
-
Will try that then, process of elimination :y.........thanks for the feedback :y

If your putting a new Sump Bolt Gasket on Mike check that all the sump bolts are tight too, and like said then give it a good wipe off..
As for the Cam Cover Gaskets pull out a spark plug lead and just have a look in the plug well for oil just out of curiosity :y
-
That's a Torx type sump plug isn't it? Has a rubber O ring built into it so you have to buy a new plug complete.
Only needs to be 10Nm as well otherwise the threads will probably get stripped on the sump.

Vauxhall do sell just the rubber o ring on its own, no need to by the whole sump plug.

Did'nt have this problem before e.g., oil check light after around 1k or so after the seals were done with Vx in penge, when I was on Holiday...............don't have the tools etc., to do what has been recommended ::)

Do you have a few spanners? sump ones look about 10mm ish, just see if they are tight.... give everywhere a wipe over, and pull out a lead from off a spark plug and have a look down there mate :y :y

You won't get oil leaking from the cooler unless it has failed, in which case the leak is the least of your worries! If the plate is leaking you'll lose coolant.

Is it me or does the oil look red in colour

So what is that then if the oil is red gearbox oil?
-
Thats what i was thinking, isnt the autobox oil red
It looks red on the silver pipe.

No its not red, just the way the pic has turned out, looks like very clean oil, which would be about right as only topped it up last week, and the car is manual not auto :y

No probs Mike, just a thought.

Looking from the front of the engine......can you take a picture of the top front of the sump looking down from above.....I suspect crank oil seal.

Not a leaky PAS pump, is it? Does it lose fluid from the power steering?
Kevin
Edited to say: Oops! Read page 2, Kev ::)

I think its coming from above the sump - the plug is just the lowest point and hence the oil runs down there.
