its an auto which im not sure this is helping much ? im thinking of converting it to manual .
whats the first step for a bit more power as this engine seems so lazy? a bit like my boss ;D
4 bar fuel pressure reg? make much difference ?
is there any cams for this engine that will give more performance?
manifolds ?
decats? although im not a fan of decatting.

Make sure it is in tip top running order first. It's not an engine that should feel lazy. Quite often the cams are not timed up correctly following a belt change. Check that the multirams are operating correctly, that the breathers are clear, change air filter and oil filter, ensure plugs and leads are in good condition. If you still want more power consider a chip as the first upgrade.
The EGR shouldn't sap performance as it is only used on light load. If the valve is leaking it won 't do any good though, although the idle will probably be pretty rough if that's the case.
