Yesterday I fitted a brand new abs sensor to no avail the problem was still there so I thought I'd have a look at the relays I have had troubles before so I thought I take the relays out I struggled to get the rear one out as someone had bent all the connectors on the unit and discovered it had been glued down.
Now I need to get my hands on a new unit as when I pulled the relay out it bought with it half of the connectors.
So is there anything I need to know regards changing and so on.
I have heard the unit from vx is £800+ so am going to try find a second hand unit.
Do the units need to have the same part number and are they easy to remove/change.
The car will be off the road from friday as its mot will be expired so atleast I will have time to work on the car.
All help on this would be much appreciated as I don't no really where to begin.

There is a replacement guide in Maint Guides.
£800 sounds fitted price
Steve W who wrote the guide paid about £300 for a brand new one from Vauxhall
Others have bought from scrappers or even had theres refurbed.
If you buy new, I think Mark DTM is after a broken one to disect.

If I can find a replacement unit then I would quite happily forward on the old unit.
I dont think my budget will stretch to a new unit but if I can find a second hand unit and it does the job then I'd be happy.

Can some one find me the link for the guide as I have checked the maintenance guide section and could not spot it may have missed it :-[
Just found the link but not sure its what i'm after as its just the ecu removal i'm gonna need to take the whole unit out, not unless i have missed that bit too.

This is the one I was thinking of :

I believe some people have done this but not removed quite so many other bits.

I did mine, http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1168732737/0
Might help :y
Didn't realise it was 8 months ago!
I used a torx bit from a screwdriver set with a 7mm spanner to rotate to get the screws out

How can you tell the difference between units and will I need an Identical one, obviously I dont need one with the TC but I know where there are a couple of 2.0 omega's being broken, are earlier units the same as the later ones.
I know where there is an M reg 2.0 so was wondering if the unit would be the same.
All help on this would be gratefully appreciated.

i have recently had mine replaced, cost the AA £455, £281 of that was the unit itself.
Easiest way of IDing it would be by the bosch numbers, i would say there is no g'tee that you will end up with a unit that is better than the one you have, and i understand they are not the easiest things to get at or replace.......
-
Pretty sure you have the early 3 way one which is generaly VERY reliable and hence two a penny.

Hi there
Cheers for the suggestion can you tell me where abouts the bosch number should be as I cannot see anything written on the top should it be on a sticker or imprinted somewhere.
If I can find the number I may have a word with vx to see what there price is for just the unit.
I'm guessing reprogramming will not be needed being that I will be moving the ecu over.
-
Well just contacted Autovaux to get a price on a new unit very :o :o :o :o :o :o :o nearly a grand for the unit and this was confirmed using the reg number what to do next :-/ may be lucky at the scrappers.
Cheers for all the help

As I posted above .. give BBA-Reman a ring ... must be worth it !
They sorted me out for a fraction of the vx quote

Early one:

Later one:

Las jacarandas has a few early ones for about 25 quid each and there is a guy on ebay re-conditioning the later ones for a ton.

Had a Stroke of luck today and i am now a very happy man.
Visited the scrappy today and changed the control unit which sits on the pump for £10.
The scrappy had 3 units and I took one from an M reg with the same bosch number and XC code.
The board i put in was spotless looked like it had 2 new relays in it and there was no signs of water on the board.
10mins to swap the replacement into my car and now I have abs, no signs of ecu light flashing up and staying on and the abs light goes out and stays out after starting up.
Next job is to get the MOT done, tried today but I was told that on a saturday they only do MOT's till 1pm due to the national system shut down at 1pm :-/ whether to believe that or not.
Well pleased :)

Cheers mate :y
I was quite lucky as the guy at the scrappy said if it didn't work to take it back and he'd let me swap it usually they dont allow this so luck was on my side the 1st one did the trick.

I am going to change mine seeing as how easy you all make it sound!
When you take the old unit off will the car still be driveable in the event of an emergency until I get the new one? Is there anything exposed to the elements?
My chassis number starts with a W ( W0LOV .....) so presumably mine will be the 4 channel job.

Its the LAST letter in the VIN that counts - they all start W0L ;)

1998 model then, so yes, 4 channel, and the less reliable type...
