Title: Paperclip test - technical question
Post by: estaszew on 10 October 2007, 00:32:40
I know the FAQ mentions shorting connections 4 and 6 of the data link.  Could someone please inform me as to what circuits 4 and 6 go to?  My Catera's data link is different, but I do have the service manuals (so if I know the circuits, I can figure it out...and spare another 20A fuse).

4 (or 5) is signal ground. 6 is ECU pin that tells it to flash codes.

Update:
On the '98 3.0 Catera, I could not get the codes to flash out with any combination of shorting to the ground pins.  Looks like it isn't possible on the Catera, unless someone proves me wrong...

Its not possible on the Caterra, the ECU in the states supports true OBDII (ISO spec) and is not an ALDL style setup as per the europeon ones.

A good ISO spec OBD code reader would work though.
