:-/My engine has started missing, the garage said he'd changed the plugs and that the leads were good. Any ideas what it could be? It's a bit difficult talking to the mechanic as I'm in the Algarve and don't speak Portuguese! Thanks Tucker.

If the leads and plugs are fine ( make sure they are though) then it will point towards the dis pack....
Is it an actual misfire or just running a little rough??/
-
I'll get back to you on that. by the way, where is the distribulator?
-
What engine is it? If a 2.0/2.5/3.0 then do a paperclip test (see maintenence guides section), and if no codes, suspect HT side of things.

The what????? ;D (only joking) If you mean distributer, then it hasn't got one, it has a dispack. Which is basically a solid state version of a distributer.
HTH..

The dis is great fun to get at as it sits at the rear of the engine behind the cam covers on the passenger side.
You can remove the scuttle to make access easier, but requires the removal of the wiper arms and covers at the rear of the engine bay.

its easier if he has a 4 pot though. We don't know do we?

Thanks for all the advice lads. I'll go and see the garage man tomorrow and see if I can make him understand a little of the advice!!
Hopefully he should know most of it. Cheers, T. :y

Oh I'm sorry, It' a Omega elite V6. 2962cc.
I'm back in Coventry tomorrow for a week, and I'm leaving the car in a local garage in Portugal.
I hope it's sorted when I come back!! Fingers crossed. I'll let you know the outcome.
Thanks for the advice and help. Regards Tucker. :)

update your profile with your car details - it appears over on the left of your post and helps a lot to give the right answer.
