A split appeared from bottom corner of windscreen. Windscreen fitter said he had replaced many Omega windscreens for same reason. He reckons it is caused by rusting at the a post where the windscreen apperture is, as the rust swells it causes strain on the windscreen and results in splitting. Any similar experiences ?

yes :( on my 94. Not sure but may be the drain away from the sunroof aperture.
-
Yes....and every time the cause of the rust has been due to a hand fisted screen fitter damaging the paint work when removing the screen and bonding the last time it was replaced
-
I've had a couple of windscreens replaced by a guy called Pete who was based just south of Bedford.
(Sorry it was some years ago and the details are a bit hazy now.)
Anyway, he carefully made good any paint damage before fitting the new 'screen and took about twice as long over the job as the usual mobile guys.
Isn't it a shame they aren't all like Pete?
Eddie.

Funny you should mention this as I was going to ask a similar question.
Mine is a facelift estate, what's yours? all of a sudden there's white patch appeared bottom corner of the windscreen, on the part were which is blacked out. It's not cracked, I thought it was at first glance. Don't know why it's suddenly appeared, could it be under stress there?

White patch is delaminating of the laminated glass.
