Is the boot keyslot horizontal or vertical?

As above. When horizontal boot locks/unlocks with central locking. When vertical it's locked .... all the time, till you unlock it again with the key.

I looked today, and cos it hadn't been used in a while it was bl00dy stiff to turn.

hi, with the car open the boot lock is horizontol. (locked) i turn the key to the right and the boot is open i then have to revert back to the horizontal position to get the key out of the lock. the boot is back to where it started locked. i cant use any position with the key to keep the boot open.

sounds like the boot's locking motor has failed or become disconnected ...
