Hi
My wife has had a 2.2 estate for 3 years which she loves. Trouble is that she hasn't looked after it too well. So we are now looking for another car, and after looking at lots of other cars, we keep coming back to another Omega. I have test driven a 2.6 saloon, but was put off after I got a price of around £1700 for a complete exhaust! I have tried several places, but they all say I would have to buy a genuine part. I have had this same problem with our 2.2 estate. Does anyone know where I could source a cheap(er) exhaust if I bought a 2.6? Would an exhaust from a 2.5 fit?
Thanks
Sean

I don't know who quoted you those prices, but the whole system is about £330 + VAT for a 2.6.
That's genuine Vx exhaust.

I'd imagine 2.5/2.6 exhaust are the same
Get a trade card for £20, the cat back exhaust for my car was £240, all brand new genuine from the dealer - mine is a W reg 2.5

Have a look at this thread mate, nut this is for a 3.2 but may give you an idea of prices :y

No listing available for part numbers for estate but centre sections around £75 each for saloon, with backbox at £65, all plus VAT....

Hi
That quote came from Vauxhall main dealer in Diss Norfolk. I also had a similar price from an independant exhaust place. A lot of exhaust centres didn't even have the 2.6 listed.
The cat sections alone were something like £600 each!
I would exoect to pay that on a Jag, not a Vauxhall.
Even with that cost I am still tempted to get one and keep my fingers crossed!

ah i guess your talking about the whole exhaust including CATS
CATS are expensive if i remember right Vx wanted £480 and my old CAT for a new one for a 4 pot 2.0l

The cats are very very robust... rarely fail.

Yep, the cats will last teh life of the car unless they are exposed to sudden thermal shock or impact damage so dont need changing.

What these incredibly helpful guys are saying is STOP! THINK! SHOP AROUND! You won't have to spend a big chunk of the value of the vehicle to make the exhaust system serviceable again.
I've just bought a 2.6l estate with a rear exhaust system that will need replacing before the next MOT in March '08, and the prices I've obtained are in line with the indications above. For goodness sake don't let these people rip you off! :y
Cheers,
