Having tried to photograph my car in the dark, all lit up, I realised how ugly the standard foglamps look under the blueish HIDs... on the Autobulbs site, it lists H1 bulbs for front fogs on non-HID Omegas, but greys it out for HID'd cars. I'd assume they were the same... but is there some high chance of killing myself if I swap the bulbs on my car?
The sidelights, too, look ugly, the standard white-ish bulbs - got a pair of Philips blue-ish ones, as I had fitted to my previous car (not actually blue a la Barryboys, just more of a "xenon effect"...). Offside sidelight, no problem, in and out in no time. But how the deuce am I supposed to get in to change the nearside? Is there an easy way to get my hand in?
Regards
Pete

For access to the rear of the nearside headlamp, try loosening the battery and moving it backwards a tad.

I did this in both of our cars too, put in white led bulbs, look much better, but not strictly legal.
I havent got small hands, and am not nimble, but managed to do them all ok, but was a squeeze.
You have taken the end piece of radiator cover off havent you? should be enough room to squeeze in then, if not, as Hotel21 says, loosen the battery.

Bah, I was hoping there'd be a secret way under the bumper, or through the glovebox, or something... ;) Cheers guys, I'll have a look in a bit. :y

How do you change the foglight bulbs then? Anybody fitted HID's in the foglights?

Undo two torx screws holding plastic "grills" next to fog lights and remove. Undo 1 screw holding fog light & pull light towards screw side to release. You can then remove bulb. Replacement is an H1. Reverse to put all back. 10 min job!!
HIDs in fogs - I dont thik so!!!!!!!

Cheers guys, moved the battery back by 1/4" and managed to fit my hand in and swap the bulb... much better. :y
I'll be attempting the fogs when I've got a spare moment. :)

Read this article with some interest. I too wanted to replace a dud fog lamp bulb - but couldn't figure out how to get at it. Mines a 2001 2.2 CD and there is no screw fastening the grill in place. Has the whole bumper to come off. Any ideas - much appreciated. Also would like to replace one of the lenses as it is badly scratched.

I guess this is one question that nobody knows the answer to. Vx say that it has to go into them to be done???
Looks like I'll have to stay on one fog lamp lol :'(

I will check this PM but, I seem to recall its realy easy on the facelift as you can get to the back of the light assembly from underneath.

thanks mark look forward to your reply

I'll have a look as well. IIRC, the grill trim on the outside edges will clip off also(?) I don't think i've ever seen a facelift omega with a fog bulb out but still worth knowing for peace of mind. It's not in the owners manual then?

Ey up
Had a look at my facelift fogs the other day. Dead easy, no removal of grilles or anything. If like me, you've got a big head, it's useful to lift the car by a few inches to have a look underneath. Then, you can see the light assembly, the bulb holder twists round by about an eighth of a turn, then pops out (much like the front indicators, in fact).
You'd be needing a set of these bulbs, though, since H1s don't seem to fit my facelift. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/XENON-SUPERWHITE-BULBS-HB4-9006_W0QQitemZ250181983056QQihZ015QQcategoryZ72235QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I'll try to do a how-to on all the bulbs, once I get back onto my own computer. :y

Me too. I had the blue Phillips ones and they fade after a few months, the white 4 cluster LED's actually shine HID blue and look great. I'd also suggest changing the orange indicator bulbs for chrome ones from Ebay for a fiver - eliminates the fried egg effect :y

OK, OK,
I put in the LED sidelights and chromed indicators after seeing yours ;D

One of my indicators blew, used that as the opportunity to replace the lot.
Do prefer the look.
never drive on just sidelights, so light output not an issue.
