Title: Aircon recirc mode thump from the back
Post by: bigdods on 14 November 2007, 13:56:35
Elite 3.0 Facelift. When  I put the aircon on Auto recirculation every now and then there is a loud thump from the back of the car - made me jump first time it happened. Its obviously some kind of flap opening  or closing on demand from the aircon (doesnt happen when in normal auto mode) but where do i look to find it ? No Haynes manual for the facelift model (grrrr) . Ar a guess I would say that the flap (wherever its hiding) should be damped by a spring (or some such) which may be broken causing it to thump open or closed. Any help appreciated !

Cheers

If you look in the cubby hole to the right as you look in the boot (first aid kit compartment) there are a couple of air vents which exhaust the air that is blown in by the climate control. These have flaps on them, so I could imagine the sudden change of airflow might make them slam open / closed.
