Post by: dazzie on 22 November 2007, 10:34:39
Hi, I have a 2.0L 16V Auto
I have had a complete new exhaust fitted but still sounds noisy. Iv'e had the center piece replaced 5 times the backbox twice. And a new down pipe.
It is still noisy sometimes its quieter than others, Can anyone please help.

First of all welcome.

I have recently replaced the front pipe / cat on my 1995 2.0 manual. sounds like an Alfa now, very raspy through the revs and very annoying, I bought a cheap new ceramic cat and wish I hadn't, it does the job and passed the emissions test but has spoilt the quiet drive. Vauxhall genuine for me next time. Is yours a genuine part or one from an exhaust fitting centre?

Non gen front pipes are noisey, this can be significantly improved by the use of exhaust wrap around the front pipe (the original exhaust sections are double skinned).

Similarly, the cat back non-gen exhaust tend to be quite raspy as well.

Ok Thanks for fast reply. Will the exhaust need to be taken off to wrap it.
