Title: speedo/tc/abs inop

Speedo's staying at 0 whan moveing, but moves slightly on ignition on and off. tc and abs lights on.
miles and trip in the speedo still turning.
trip/ avridge speed on mid stuck at 0 after reset on the stalk.

still the old faithfull mv6 3ltr auto minface lift.

any ideas ?


(tc definatly not woring,havent had to test the abs yet :)     )

ABS ECU fubar'd :( Well documented for your(our :-/) year of car.

I would second that. Fiddly job. Do a search on ABS ECU in general forum. There is also a comprehensive guide in the maintenance section.

Other symptons are no cruise control and sometimes heavy steering.

Can you put some details of car in your profile please? It helps with answers to questions.

If you decide to change it I have some photos of tools that are useful and the unit when it comes off which I could Email you.

Yep, replace/repair ABS ECU about £125 for a recon unit.

abs failure, fairly common on post 98 models.

Its that common that I keep asking for a broken ECU to disect and to date......I have not got one.

Given the cost of re-furb, the failure can be little more than a dry joint or faulty relay.....cant be to hard to repair and would make a great maintenance guide.

My thoughts exactly...

I know on a members P reg (so before the troublesome type), I bodged a failing abs by tapping the relays...
