Evening Guys n Gals, In the 8 months ive had my 1st omega its had to go on vauxhalls computer 3 times so far and 2 times on one of them snap-on thingys (nothing but problems with the car from getting it). So have seen the connector for sale on ebay, the part that goes from car to laptop, does anyone know where to get the actual program from to read the faults....TIA

ebay
"cheapo tech2" can read codes, and reset.
But no upgrades can be done, ie, cruise enable or airbag light reset.
Btw your laptop must have a real com port, USB to com adaptors do not seam to work....
-
which tech2 would you recommend there are quite a few on ebay all around the same price range and all from china or usa

Nothing to compare with the cheapie eBay specials, they are all capable of reseting a few codes but nothing too special, you may also need to be able to read Hungarian.
If it's just a code that needs reseting it may do that for you but TBH it's what caused the code that is the real issue.

..... or airbag light reset.....
a 'cheapo TechII' will reset airbag lights.

Wish i knew, its doing my bl**dy head in now, even took it to a vaux mechanic i know and he was no bl**dy use either.. :'(

You can flash the codes out with a paper clip on a 2.5!

Will reset some airbag lights. Assuming fault cleared. I couldn't get it to tell me what was wrong with mine...

The software, or at least a link to it, will come with it. The software is appalling, and no other software we've found works with it.

i had the codes and their faults from the snap-on diagnostic machine today but not sure what the remedy is
faults were
voltage high on idle position valve and voltage low on idle control valve

OK! Just going off personal experience. Mine reset IrmscherKris's late preface lift Omega - no fault showing but it was assumed the fault had been due to previous owner removing steering wheel with power on. Mine also diagnosed & reset the passenger seat belt pre tensioner 'high resistance' and something-or-other on the steering wheel air bag of my Astra G

Thats very common with cheapo. There was a stored fault (hence the light), but the cheapo said not. Had the fault still been current, it wouldn't have reset it, but no clue as to why (as it would say no codes).
Does that make sense?

So does anyone have any idea what the fault is on my car with the faults indicated above, revs running high once starts to get warm, revs go from 1200 to 2000 back to 1200 to 2000 and so on

Any EML coming on? If so, what codes?
Purely from symptoms, I'd say unmetered air or a ICV (or electronic throtttle) sticky

No EML light at all, cant remember the code numbers, only what was written after the numbers, voltage high on idle position valve and voltage low on ICV.
I recently cleaned out breather pipes, throttle body & ICV with carb cleaner, and its been reving by itself since i put it back together

Where these old codes, or current/present codes?
-
TBH im not sure, its not that long since it was on the vauxhall computer which said the temp 2 sensor had gone, so im assuming these are new codes
-
My gut reaction is these codes are not current, and are a red herring. But without plugging in to the car myself, cannot confirm..
-
Any idea what might be causin it to rev by itself apart from being posessed, i swear this cars been nothing but trouble since i got it.
