Title: Alarm problems

Hello all

i posted before about ignition lights staying on after switch off and key removal.....took it to garage where they pugged in a kinda laptop.....guy said no probs with ECU or anything else....just my luck as the problem is intermitant and you guessed it it was ok when in garage....anyhow....now my alarm goes off as i'm driving along....quite funny watching people in front getting out of my way....not so funny when i try to explain with facial gestures that i'm not a copper on a shout.....any ideas???

Alarm going off while driving is often the power sounder.
It is under the scuttle, front passneger side i think.
Its batterys leak, causing this problem.  It can be removed completely or replaced if you value it.

That may even be the problem with the lights staying on. Power sounder has both ignition and permanent feeds to it, and when the batteries leak the goo that come out of them is conductive!

thank mate....is it straight forward getting to it...and any ideas on cost for a new one

It's under the scuttle cover panel on the driver's side on a bracket just behind the driver's side suspension turret. You may be able to reach in and pull the plug but the best way is to remove the scuttle panel.

Opinions vary on the cost of a new one from about 50 quid to over 100.  :-/
