Welcome :D

Sounds like its an electrical/electronic problem. Could be TPS (throttle position sensor) or not sure if TD has a Clutch switch which could be a problem.

One of the TD guys will no doubt know more...

Plus, what year is it and does it pull OK when accelerating?

Who recommended the 2.5TD?

Could be a case of the clutch not picking up, perhaps slipping like mine did.

If it was ECU related by rights you would have the EML on, the orange light with a picture of an engine with a slash through it I think its the same on both petrol or diesel.

So, when you change gear and release the clutch does the engine revs increase but the car doesn't accelerate or do the revs stay low?

THEY STAY LOW

Im guessing yours is border line between pre facelift or is a facelift, from what I can tell the haynes you can get only goes upto T reg so if facelift they didn't create one.

Are the brakes ok, plenty of assistance?

I'm thinking either blocked fuel filter or fuel tank pick-up.

Vaccum fault.....(hence the above question)

Or even a main air inlet pipe dislodged (check the turbo on the drivers side bottom of the engine bay), where did you buy it form?

Haynes doesn't cover the diesel engine anyway regardless of pre or post facelift.   Although I would think still worth having for the non engine related stuff, even if its a facelift.

While haveing a look myself I have noticed that there is a metal tube which I have arrowed and it is realy loose and does not attach to anything else ie: not going anywhere. Just wondering what it is, is it the egv, where should the pipe be going, i'm gessing its not suposed to be loose.

Thanks

Had another garage look at the car, they have been right through it, all they could suggest is that it may be the sencer on eather the side of the fule pump or the throttle sencer, but they did not know. I got realy stressed with the car yesterday and gave it a good hamering, fault dissapeared.
So with the fault disapeared I poped back to see my mate, he plugged in his programer and it came up with fault code 64 low fueling, but the car ran fine all last night. Drove the car lunch time and happining again for a while, suddenly it stopped playing up.
I have spoken to a few places an knowone seam's to have a clue or want to touch it.
Anyone please.

The car is still playing up, it's been in 3 garages now and still not sorted out. I have lost all hope in this car, got to admit the Omega is the worst car I have ever owned because of this fault. But still desprate to get this sorted out.

The BMW engine and software are pretty poor at giving good help on faults....
