Can someone please confirm it is acceptable to position axle stands under the box section of the rear subframe as I believe Mark has done in the photos in the this guide? http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152564750
Or is the trailing arm a better bet? This is for my handbrake work so no suspension access issues.
Cheers
Ian

You'll bend things if you support your car on the trailing arms. Chassis box section or the axle half shafts are a better bet.

As per the picture....on the sections shown......VERY strong.
You do have to make sure the cup of the jack is on the front edge of the mounting point so the stands will fit.

Thats not a good idea.....do you REALY mean the half shafts!
-
Mark - have you put them on the subframe section between the mounting plate and the centre of the car, or actually on the mounting plate itself (bit difficult to see exactly on the pics)? I can understand its difficult to jack on the mounting plate and position an axle stand there at the same time..

I have jacked on the mounting plate (front edge)........and then placed the stand under the large section of sub frame which heads towards the diff....

Brilliant - thanks Mark. Now time to get cold and wet :(
