Hi, this question might have been aired before, but here we go. I have a 95 Omega 2.0 ltr and it has a seperate Ignition key and central locking transponder pad, what I want to know is can I use a newer key / transponder combination as used on the last Vauxhall's as this in a all in one unit.

Hi David
I dont think you can on the earlier Omegas but im sure someone who knows more will reply soon.

Just a hunch - you might be able to swap (or simply reprogramme, I don't know if the chip is a different type) the chip if it's a wireless radio thing - if it's a infrared one I doubt you could.
*taps foot awaiting being corrected*

It is a wireless type, i.e. like the type you would get from Alarm companies like Toad, Clifford, I just want the key and alarm flobs to be an all in one instead of two.

As long as yours is the RF type, then yes, its possible.
The fully integrated type do seem to have a shorter range though.
You will need a Tech2 and a carpass to do it as well.

Hi this is my 1st post to the chat.
I've had 3 Omega's and all of them have had diferent transponders, they seem to work on diferent wave lenghts.
I know this isn't very helpful, but there are quite a few mobile specialists that will come round and do the job for you, ask at any locksmiths they usually have cards of people that do this.
Cheers Alan

The transponders are all the same, the remotes vary ;). The frequency is the same (in a licence free part of spectrum), but the signals do vary....

That's OK but dose it answer my question, is it possible to use a newer key/transponder all in one unit, if reprogramed and cut to my locks

If yours is RF, then yes. BUT you need to get the right type, as there are several different types. Its likely your seperate type is Megamos, so a Megamos 2 button type with LED should be OK, once programmed to your car (http://theboy.omegaowners.com for programming prices ;))
