If you are intent on fixing it chop it open around the seam and see if the batteries have leaked. If so, it may be too far gone, but the batteries should be readily available if the PCB hasn't been knackered by leaking batteries.

yeap disconnected

The batterys have leaked a little but not onto the PCB if cheap enough to replace would like to fix.

Was going to do this to mine, but the whole thing is caked in that black rubber stuff...
