Hi all...need to get a couple of replacement tyres for my elite 225/55/16, and a friend of mine has a pair off a jag Pirelli p6000 but the spec says they are jag tyres..question is are these any good on megas and what is the bit specific to jags..a tyre is a tyre surely..but know vauxhalls are the exception to most rules..also are p6000 any good on megas or should i stick to the trusted michelins and spend £££££,s

I think alot is down to individual choice when it comes to tyres.
P600 are a good tyre, as for Jag specific, if all the dimensions are the same and the speed rating is the same then i see no reason as to why you could not fit them.
HTH.

I agree with the comment regarding the dimensions being according to common standard.
I would mention however that the P6000 came out very poor in recent tyre tests (either Autocar or Auto Express, can't remember where I read it...), they say it is an old and outdated design and does not match up to the latest breed of tyres.
Having said that, unless you are keen on having the best/sportier tyres on the market, or drive the car to the extreme, I would think that if you get a good deal on the P6000 then they should do the job fine.

depends what you want from a tyre.... i want millage!
I have Goodyear Eagle Ventures on mine, done 20k on the personally, and they were already on the car when i bought it!
They still have loooads of tread left. Unless your really pushing it, i don't notice the lack in grip as some will say my tyres have.

Hi amba06128,
You find this sometimes in the tyre world, tyre companies like Bridgestone do tyres for "Porky's" with No1 (I think) on the side wall also Pirelli do as well, all it means is that the car maker and the tyre company have designed that tyre to work at it's best with that make of car (suspension - Tyre set up), you can use that tyre on any other vehicle but if like these tyres say "JAG" if you put any other P6000 on the Jag the handling on the Jag will not be at it's best
All you need to know is the speed rating and tyre size are right for you motor :y
Hope this is of some help

Interesting you say that. I've covered 44k on my Goodyear Eagles which I think is pretty good. Need to replace them now but I think the Eagle ventures are superceded

Thanks guys for advise.
I have a brand new pair of michelin primacy in garage waiting to be fitted but thought it made sense to replacet the 4 as have Nankang on at present and have done over 25k on them and they are now shot to pieces.Wanted to buy another pair of michelins but at £125 + each cannot justify or afford this side of Christmas so was looking for a cheaper option when a pair of P6000 came up.Fully understand about the branding advise so accept that some manufacturers make deals with car makers and state they should suit a specific model...ie.. Jag..so will see how cheap I can get them and make a decision then, but at the end of the day..they are black, round , have tread on and are the correct size ..so ???

Hi there mate, i have p7000 on my car and they are great for grip but have found that they tramline quite a bit so i would put the mich on the front and the p7000 on the back. as long as you try to keep the same tyres on each axel the car wil be good as gold. :y

P6000 were developed for the S-Type as a quiet tyre. That's why they sometime have the "Jag" tag. They fit any other appropriately sized wheel.
