Changed the Coil Pack a few weeks ago (2.5 V6) and it cured the misfire I had, in fact, this is the coil pack I removed;
As you can see, it was mullered..... So the new coil pack did the job, or has it? It ran fine, but I didn't drive the car because the MOT had run out, so a couple of days later, I took it for the MOT, car drove fine to the garage and back from the garage. The car had failed, so I waiting for a new strut to arrive (shock was knackered) and fitted it along with cleaning up the seized rear calipers.
A week had no passed and I took the car for it's retest, again, it drove fine. However, on the way back from the garage the misfire has returned...............
Angry???? I almost kicked the damn car! ;D
Has anyone else had problems with using a non-genuine coil pack???????
Thanks
Craig

Was it a non-genuine coil pack and not a bosch one (which are teh OEM supplier)?
-
Don't think it's a genuine Bosch one.
Thing is, it was working fine..........
Before I completly lose the plot, I'll be looking to make sure a lead hasn't popped back off.
Then I'll be mostly doing a John Cleese moment, hitting with a tree!
-
I have to say that is the single most goosed DIS pack I have seen!
Are you loosing coolant?
-
No, but I'm begining to think that water is getting down there. Somehow....
Maybe more water has got in there.
OMG! Brain wave..........! Sometimes the windscreen washers don't work......... The pump runs, but no water comes out for about 30 secs. I'm wondering if there's a leak from the pipe and it's soaking the top of the coil pack.............. That would make sense......
-
Oil leaking into plugwells, ht leads fried?
-
Well, well, well.......
I'm not 100% sure yet as I've not had a good look.
However, on the way home, it only misfired until it was warm then it was fine........
Got home and looked at the washer jets. I hadn't used the washers today, however, the jet above the coil pack had some water around it. I've got a feeling that it is the washer pipe, probably a dodgy non-return valve or just a leaky pipe. Of course, if water comes out of a leak, it may continue to flow.
I have a feeling that water is coming out and is leaking down on top of the coil pack.
I bet a garage or a dealer wouldn't of found that.
Like I said, I'm not 100% certain, but it's all starting to make sense..........

Damn thing is toying with me now! ;D
No more misfire (at the moment), but it was refusing to start this morning............... Until I begged it, then it finally fired up!
