Facelift 2.5 Tubby Denzil. 90k on clock...new DMF...Clutch OK, but no matter how gentle and balanced I change gear, it still lurches or snatches a bit on letting the clutch out. Any ideas ?

Are the engine mountings all sercure? Check for security and wear.

Changed the mountings two weeks ago. Originals were well shot. Snatch was there b4 and it's still there now...Doh !!

I presume the pressure plate and release bearing is alright? :-/

What did the flywheel surface look like when you changed the clutch? A worn flywheel could cause a snatchy change.

I assume the input shaft spines the clutch friction plate runs on are clean, rust free and very slightly greased and that there is no air in the clutch hydraulic line

The fly wheel was a new Luk item. The original one was totally kn@ckered. I didn't have the time to carry out the work myself and I've not done the job before so I left it to two mechanics (one ex-VX).
There seems to be a very slight "thump" at the back when I change gear and the shift stick is a little bit, er..."wiggly". It's not far off feeling like the clutch is being dumped, though nowhere near as severe.
This is more noticable going from 1st to 2nd and 3rd. If I take care to let the clutch out gentlyand balanced it's not too bad.
It's just that I know how nice a drive these cars are and it's annoying more than worrying.
