hi i have a omega 2.2 gls 2001,last week it started running very bad like a missfire so took it to garage to find out what it was and was told to change coilpack which was done along with a service but still having problem but with no eml light.
any advice what to try next
-
Remove coil pack and check plug wells for oil/water :y
-
there is a small amount of oil but not much could this be shorting out

Yes, this would suggest that your cam covers are leaking.

And that the cause of the leaky cam cover gasket is blocked breathers :y
-
i have checked all breathers and 1 was blocked but i have cleaned this and is clear now.
i will check oil around plugs and clean that and coil pack and try this to see if this is any better.
will reply later to tell you all results
-
You will still need to change the cam cover gasket......use genuine Vx
The blocked breather would have caused the cam cover gasket to leak, did you clean all breathers including the vertical metal one bolted to the sump?
Edit: did you follow Auto Addicts' Maint Guide?

just been out for another look.
no oil around plugs,all breathers clear,new coilpack,plugs,fuel filter,air filter,
revs seem to cut out at around 3000 rpm and pick up again at around 2000 rpm????iam lost
-
You need to have the codes read, where abouts are you?
Could be cam sensor failure.
-
Can i just say, auto addicts maintenance guide is superb, i shall be following that one closely once the threat of snow has gone
-
When they did the diag work, did they do any actuator tests.....
.....coz they should have done!
It possible its a sticking EGR valve which would have shown up during actuator testing.

Hi - i am having the same problem on a 2.2 y22xe engine - 2000 cd model - replaced the cam gasket due to oil around the plugs and changed the airflow meter and still no change
I would be most interested to hear if anyone has another solution.
I don't know if this makes a difference but if i fill the car full of fuel and drive a distance down the road it will try to cut out loose power and missfire until the fuel level is below 3/4 of a tank??? - I am told this could be a dodgy fuel filter stopping the fuel flow.
Cheers Rjay

Seeing as your gasket leaked, did you also clean your breathers
and throttle body which is one cause for the gasket to leak?
See this 2.2L guide by Auto Addict. Pay particular attention to the
comments and picture at the end of the post.

I doubt the full fuel tank will cause cutting out. The only thing this
could possibly do, is maybe put fuel into your purge line to the
Throttle Body. But I would have to see how the lines lay to form
an opinion on this, plus any fluid traps built into the system.
Maybe someone who has delved deeper into the layout would
care to comment?

Thank you for your coments - I am going to have a good clean around and check at the weekend and then hopefully take it to my mates to do a diagnostic check sometime next week.
Having spoken to him earlier he seems to think it might be the DIS pack but he is not commiting himself as for fuel problem ???
Does anyone know if these models are Tech2
