Title: Whats the HBV look like??
Post by: MutantCav on 10 January 2008, 17:14:58
I know roughly where it is...under the scuttle at the back of the engine as you look at the car...what does it look like and how do you take it out?

Cheers :) Engine is already scuttle and half the engine free so should be able to see it quite easily in the morning :) Gonna keep it incase its needed for future...feel that it may also be advisable for me to take the oil cooler out at the same time :)

Cheers :) So what does the HBV do then?

it controls the flow of water via a vac pipe, when you switch the heater on in the car the heater creates a vacumn this in turn opens the valve and allows water to flow into the heater matrix.
turn the heater off and the water flow is kept within the engine bay

hope that helps

Possibly, or it could be the vac pipe has dropped off....

most common fault with HBV is that they leak
