can anyone help please, how easy is it to replace the startet motor on a 1997 2.5 td cd automatic
Done mine a few times on the tractor.
Once inlet off (can be fiddly), 3 small nuts for the 4 electrical connections, and 2 nuts and bolts to hold the starter in.

on the 2.5td, you get it from the top.
Black 'turbo diesel' plastic off.
EGR pipe off from egr (2 bolts)
Air intake (metal bit from black plastic to cylinders) off (14 nuts)
Then to can see starter and get to it.

You can also do it underneath but then it turns in to a PITA.
For some daft reason I always do them from under the car (I've mastered it now though LOL).
Make sure you replace the inlet gasket on refitting.

6 gaskets on the inlet - if they are not in good condition, will need replacing...
