Always always take the whole log book with you from the seller, and post it your bloody self!
The guy i bought project B off nearly a month ago still has not posted off the bloody feking log book! >:(
Soo i sent a V62 off last week with the new keeper supplement attached, rang up today for an update.
"Sorry sir that takes up to 6 weeks to process due to secuity checks with the last owner"

Sell it without the V5, you should still have the small slip from the old V5, should be enuf proof that you own it......was good enuf proof for the PO to tax my veccy, good enuf for my local council to give me a taxi plate for the car.

Ahhh just re read that ....you've sent off the new keeper supplement to the DVLA.....that says do not sent to the DVLA :(

You have to send the new keeper supplement with the V62, otherwise you have to pay a £19 fine.
I do have 2 copys of it though, the previous owner gave me 2 new keeper supplements, the other one was from when he bought the car.
Just looking at it now, has all the right details on it.
Can I use that to sell the car? - Although I have still applyed for the log book.

Dont see why not....its still proof that you've had your hands on the V5! :)

Think hotel21 could be the chap for a definitive answer Tunnie.
-
The onus is on the seller do inform them he has disposed of the car, if you have sent the document to say that you are the new registered owner, you should be covered.
I would doubly check with them, but I think you should be OK.
The seller is at fault here.
-
yeah, really annoying me as I want shot of it.
Anyone here want it? :D
Trouble is sellers might be put off with only the New Keeper Supplement, also they might give me a false address :(

Have you thought of applying to BBC 3 for your own comedy show? ;)

The only thing is when you sell the car without the V5 you cannot prove you sold the vehicle on the day it was sold so any speeding, parking fines or worse would be hard to prove it wasn't you. Personally Tunnie I would wait

Yeah i think i will Pete, just feels wrong selling it without the log book. As you point out as well, the car could get speeding tickets.
Its Taxed and MOT'ed until the end of the year, so still saleable...

Think he got TB1 either a week or 2 after i got mine.
-
Hmmm, yes I suppose 3 weeks is nothing then, never had to wait that long myself though.
-
on my first Project car I got the log book within a week and a half!
-
i even had a dealer who didnt bother to send off the registration doc for changing despite having relieved me of £11k >:( - must say i was surprised the dvla waived the fee to issue a new one
-
when i bought mine the guy selling it wasnt registered as the owner and didnt send off the paper work but he did break off to spain, had to get the police and a commisioner of oats to declare it was mine, still nobodys showed up wuth the other set of keys wanting it back...........yet
