Hello....my 97 R REG omega 2.5 v6 has a really poor heater ...barely gets warm for ages...in fact i notice that during its first run of the day its rubbish but when engine has been stopped and then restarted say after refuelling...its seems a bit better....why is this? and does anyone know if omegas have crap heating in the cabin?

Does it have climate control then? Sorry i'm no expert but I do know the HBV 'Heater Bypass Valve' located close to the bulkhead can play up causing problems.
A cheap suggestion is to flush and refill the engine coolant a couple of times (replacing with 50/50 VX red antifreeze) to see if that improves it? Blockages are a possibility as is a leaking HBV. Any fluids under the car? coolant level ok?
The thing to check is take the car out for a spin when you feel the heater is not getting warm, and then i think you have to feel the supply to the heater matrix. I believe the pipe is located in the driver's footwell just above your left foot? If it's hot that suggests matrix at fault, if it's cold that's more likely to be engine/HBV related? perhaps?
Anyway, just a few things to try before the experts get here! :y

Check the temperature difference between the upper, feed and lower, return, pipes where they pass through the bulhead to the heater.
If there is a big difference, the flow is probably low. It may be an obstruction in the matrix.
My 2.5 is suffering this, but a garden hose connected to the matrix shows a strong return. I am thinking airlock at the moment.
