Title: Coil pack/misfire
Post by: CaptainZok on 23 January 2008, 16:15:45
Anbody know which coil pack I need for a 2000 MY 2.5.
I've checked the o/s bank and the leads are dry (did the cam covers last June).
Car has started misfiring badly when revved and is well down on power also when I pulled up there seemed to be a smell of burning plastic.
Started earlier this week during all that rain so I'm suspecting a drowned dis pack.

Update, just been out getting cold and wet with the Gnome.
We think we've discovered a couple of new inland waterways.
No4 & no6 plugwells were full of water, no6 was so full I couldn't see the plug at all.
So we dried them all out with kitchen roll then blew them dry with the compressor.
Result, still a bit hesitant but much, much improved on this afternoon.
I'm thinking still a bit damp so a good run will help, then maybe new leads in the near future.
BTW the foam on the base of the scuttle was soaked and dripping onto the cam covers explaining where the water had come from.

By any chance do you park facing slightly downhill?

I found the water seemed to be coming in where the little bit of scuttle meets the big bit, i removed the small cover and siliconed the lip where the water was leaching onto that spoungy bit, all dry so far, and she is now reversing onto the drive ;)

Yes I do.
Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try.

My Elite leaks through the hole in the middle where the (near side) wiper spindle goes thorough it.  Drips straight onto the off side cam cover. :(
