I've started so i'll finish... ;)
Previously my mig had a head gasket replacement done at a garage.
Before it went in i noticed what looked like double glazing sealant oozed around the cam cover...
The garage that did the HG confirmed this and supposedly replaced the CC gasket too.
I have just removed the cam cover, the main gasket is in place BUT there are no O rings around the bolt holes.
The double glazing sealant is still in there in bits, hence there wouldn't have been a good seal to the face of the engine, no wonder its been pi$$ing oil out since i had it back... bloody cowboys...
I am going to do this job properly, incl cleaning breathers, with the knowledge i have obtained from this wonderful forum.

;D ;D ;D
Got gasket now and O rings...
Going to clean up cam cover before fitting.
Whereabouts should i use the sealant??
-
All done :)
no longer leaking oil although its a little lumpy on idle since i reassembled, took it down the bypass for a blast but still the same.
I checked to make sure i hadn't left anything off and i haven't...
I removed and reseated the dis pack.
Any ideas?

lumpy idle is often air leak, so double check there. Then double check all breathers.

where should i be looking for an air leak?

On my 2.0 there was a whiteish vac line that ran round the back from throttle body to the EGR at the back of the cam cover. it broke off at the EGR - took ages to find and cauased unstable idling (hunting).
Also check the breather hoses that connect to the camcover.

anywhere between maf and engine.
