Title: Which Battery
Post by: TheBoy on 25 January 2008, 09:49:29
Need to go to dealer to pick up crank sensor.  Really, really need new battery for MV6.

TC book (last years!) says 66Ah Go for all petrols except 3.2, or 72Ah for 3.2 v6

Which should I go for on my 3.0l MV6?  Would the 3.2 one be better, or should I stick to the 66Ah one?

A PP9 should be fine....

I asked this not long ago, general thoughts seemed to be the extra cash wasn't worth it.   Been much better with its new battery.

The MV6 won't know whats hit it, new shocks, new battery, it'l think you love it again!

Saying that, a PP9 will be better than the one in there  :-[

Not yet, going for steak shortly

Scrag end of fish is not my prefered dish.....particularly when the tail, fins and scales are still very recognisable!

Good job Marks_DTM hasn't seen my 'Rear Shocks' post from a few days ago - he would suggest biro springs ;D

If they are physically compatible and similar prices you may as well go for the bigger one.

It probably won't make a huge difference in performance, so if there's a significant difference in price go for the cheaper one.

Which I have to be honest and say that would provide better damping than whats currently on there  :-[

Why thank you  ::)

I was tempted for the bigger battery due to shortish runs these days
When I replaced the CDX one, that went from 55AH to 66AH as she does ridiculously short runs

I think I must have been drinking last night when I wrote down prices (I did sink a few stellas when I got in at 8:30 ish), as I'm talking rubbish.

3.0 v6 - 72Ah - £39 + vat
3.2 v6 - 85Ah - £45 + vat

Opps.

Will go for 3.0 v6 one...

Yep. I would at those prices. Even for my 3.2 ::)

The 2.6 and 3.2 are given a different designation to 2.5 and 3.0 as if there is a difference (even though 2.5 and 2.6 are both 66Ah).  Guess this means some difference, either in connections, or cranking performance?

I guess there could be a physical difference.

Can't believe there's a significant difference in demand between the two cars - unless the newer motronic system is less tolerant of low cranking voltages? - or they weren't lasting as well in the 3.0's so they got uprated. :-/

Anyway, seems clear which one to go for :y
