Title: Handbrake mechanism change
Post by: Talk_Converter on 27 January 2008, 18:44:52
Hi, Has anyone had to change the handbrake mechanism inside the car? It is a 2.5 V6 Omega CDX and the metal work has fractured on one side of the lever. It appears to be held in place by two bolts, accessible after removing the console. Just asking the question in the hope that maybe someone has done this job before and I wonder if it is just an in car job or an underside chore as well?
Cheers, Les

The handbrake assy will all unbolt from inside but you will need to get underneath the car in order to disconnect the handbrake cable :(

This means possibly removing the exhaust heat shields, worth spraying the retaining nuts with plus gas or similar a day before you are ready to shear the things off  ;D
