Title: How to check for faulty heated seat pad?
Post by: oro on 29 January 2008, 20:56:02
Have a 2000 x reg elite with heated leather seats, drivers works great passengers not.
I understand from a prevous  post that the seats are heated by 'pads'.
The switch on the dash seems to work well, turns and illuminates just no heat.
How can I tell what is wrong, just to complecate matters, I would prefer not to have to expose the fuses under the drivers dash as I have a disability and my handcontrols would have to be dismantled in order to get to the fuses!
If it is a blown pad where would I get one?
Many thanks for your advice
Mike

new pads from Vx.
Testing you will need to get to the connector under the pass seat

So what do you actually do then to test the heated seats?
My switches light up too but seats don't get warm...

Generally:

Warm bum - pad works.
Cold bum - pad not working.

In my experience, hoping its wiring/fuse/switch is wishfult thinking :(

Leather, pads apparently stitch in to leather. Cloth, seperate pads, but means taking upholstery off seat

You can get the pads from Vx, I think there are two sets, one for the seat and one for the back.  When I ordered them they took a while to come in, couple of months I think.
