Hi Guys,
New to the forum, just bought a cambelt-snapped Omega 2.0, so this forum is no doubt going to be useful in my plight!!
1st question is: Is it possible to tow this automatic car with the wheels on the floor or will it knacker the gearbox? It's a 1998 2.0 estate auto.
Any help much appreciated!
Cheers

I think its 20 miles max at 20 mph .. but I wouldn't do it ... Auto box requires the engine running to power the pumps ... for this reason most breakdown companies will NEVER tow an auto wheels down.
Either get the back wheels off the ground or disconnect the propshaft would be my advice ....
..., but I know nothing ...... :)
An expert will pass by soon and no doubt correct all the above .. :)

I think book says something like 30 miles max and no faster than 50mph. Personally, I'd drop propshaft (6 bolts) if it was more than a few miles.

the auctual wording in manual is 50 miles at no more than 50mph !! as the boy says dissconnect prop only 6 bolts 19mm spanners and jobs a gud one !! :y

Yeah 50 miles/50mph...but as said...undo the 6 bolts holding the prop shaft onto the rubber donut and tie it to the exhaust and you can tow it at whatever speed you like for whatever distance without difficulty :)

Yep, 50 miles at 50mph. This was what the AA man found out when he had to check and tow me when the crank sensor packed up when I was away at the New Forest.

And preferable with a towbar as brakes are not as powerful without engine running :y

I'll pass on the info to my father in law and he can make up his mind what to do..
